Brand new session starting in September running through to November. The course is designed for all those who wish to expand upon their knowledge, but also for beginners who wish to start learning the basics of pottery construction. From thumb pots, coil pots, slab construction and beyond. Basic throwing tution is also given.

Further projeccts for the more experienced using paperclay, mould making, smoke firing, using stains and surface decoration. We also included tuition in basic functions of kilns firing and glazing techniques. A comprehensive introduction to ceramics.

Further classes in this series will include raku firing and slip casting as well as slab decoration.

CREATING COPPER FOILED STAIN GLASS PIECE (Tiffany Method)

Through this course, the student will learn the basics of how to cut and grind glass pieces to develop an endless range of panels, sun-catchers or lampshades. This method is open to many possibilities of the use of shape, colour and design in glass. Soldering, fitting together and polishing will also be covered. The end of the course the student should have created a simple sun catcher created in addition to a grounding in all basic techniques.

The day consists of learning how to use the wire in conjunction with beads and various types of wire. An essential part of the day is to learn how to use the wire in an individual way and create your own chamrs and feacture beads.

During the one day workshop you are able to complete at least three individual items, a necklace, ring and a set of earrings, OR bracelet, ring and earrings etc. Lots of designs to choose from. You can bring along your own beads or choose from our large selection.

The day is designed to introduce the beginner to the traditional and ancient method of chain maille.

The student is shown how to create small practice pieces using coloured copper wire and then how to complete a bracelet using 925 1mm wire.

You will go home with at least a completed bracelet weave from sterling silver and some practice pieces in copper wire.

4 Day intensive tution for silver jewellery construction and PMC.

This new course is scheduled over 4 days where you will learn all the processes quickly and enable you to start your new career and soon as you can.

Working with sterling silver from the first day, the course starts with a complete induction and a simple design project which will encompass, soldering, sawing, finishing.

These initial stages take you through the various tools, making sure you are inducted correctly, ensuring correct use from day one.

Day two is taken by another tutor and you are taught the different qualities of PMC construction by creating a fine hollow bead and other items such as earrings, charms etc. Finishing with gaining all the necessary skills for PMC.

Day three and four; continues with another silver jewellery construction project. The construction of a jump ring bracelet covers all the beginners skills, with continued practice of soldering, sawing sheet silver, creating a 'T' bar or 'S' hook, finishing and polishing. Also we introduce you to the rolling mill and other specialist tools.

Introduction into the basics of silver jewellery construction.

Using the basic jewellery construction tools, you are shown how to create your own individual piece of jewellery.

This silver jewellery one day taster is designed so that you can experience the processes of silver jewelery making. The day will consist of designing and personalising a silver pendant.

You will have a wonderful day, including lunch tuition and take home a beautiful peice of jewellery - made by you.

Paul is a superbly accomplished botanical artist and a memeber of the Society of Botanical Artists, his works are collected worldwide and his superb paintings have won him awards and accolades. He will be introducing students to this exquisite form of water colour painting. It is definitedly not suitable for the inexperienced watercolourist, but will be very rewarding for those with some familiarity with the medium who wish to be guided in the techniques of this detailed way of painting.

Life Drawing workshop

This workshop will focus on a lively and expressive response to the figure, and participants will be encouraged to extend a creative approach to drawing using a variety of colour media, including paint, inks and mixed media.

Some basic drawing materials, and paper will be provided; but artists to bring their own colour media, including paint and canvasses.
All materials are supplied, however, if you wish to bring along your own supplies of specialist medium, materials etc, then please do.

Canvas are not supplied, please supply your own if you wish to work on canvas.

Jean Picton is a well known and very successfull artist and is one of our more well known and long stanidng tutors. She has built up a reputation for helping students put their portfolios together, with some outstanding results for the students with gaining some impressive acceptances and pass marks.

Using red terracotta and white earthenware, the children are shown how to create a notelet holding wall plaque.

The design will be completely their own and decorated with underglazes.

The firing will be done when dry, with collection scheduled for the following week.
