Heather is a figurative painter and sculptor. She originally trained in Fashion Design where she gained her love of the female form which now greatly informs the majority of her current work.
‘Her work is from a personal level of perception and experience. It is about human relationships, questioning the humanness of existence within the familial and social structure. The aim is to capture a moment, a memory, an untold story or an imagined image of what was once present asking the viewer to emotively question their own human existence and habitation of space.’
After the birth of her children she was then able to develop her painting skills attending various part time courses, more recently training in figurative sculpture at The Art Academy, London.
Since 2010 Heather has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and at Art Fairs throughout the UK where she has gained many collectors of her work both at home and abroad, namely the USA and Europe.
Throughout this period she has shared her extensive knowledge of drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture through a range of classes, workshops, corporate away-days and events for both adults and children. She believes that creativity has no boundaries and is always amazed when her students, given the same tuition, all produce very different and personal pieces of work when allowed the freedom to do so. She is very passionate about art and her enthusiasm for the subject comes across in her fun and relaxed style of teaching.
Private collections in the USA, Europe and the UK
