Our ceramics classes are full of laughs, creative blunders and wonderful outcomes!
Join us for one session by booking this class, choose your start date and if you like you can then sign up to the remaining course dates.
Our pottery courses are perfect for all levels of ability and knowledge, from beginners to advanced.
Our tutor, Maria, will cover all aspects of hand-building and the basics of throwing with step-by-step guided tuition you will learn how to work with clay and make outstanding, technically well made finished pieces to use or display at home and perfect to give as gifts!
Throughout the course you will learn how to use and experiment with our brush on glazes including the use of oxides, stains and under-glazes.
A beginner can expect to learn – creating stamps and textures, pinch pots, coiling, slab work, tiles, throwing on the potter’s wheel and will use these techniques to make a bowl, vase, jug or plate.
An intermediate can expect to learn about carved relief work, piercing, appliqué and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Looking at texture and appliqué to create a number of vessels. Also developing your knowledge and experimentation of glazes.
An advanced potter will develop experience and knowledge working with porcelain paper clay, agate ware, scraffito, slip inlay, slip casting, slip trailing, throwing on the potter’s wheel and an introduction to sculpture. Creating and developing your own work using any of the four methods of working with clay and developing your knowledge and experimentation of glazes.
There are also other projects and techniques that will develop over the weeks and you’ll enjoy the relaxed, friendly and creative atmosphere too.

The course includes school buff and terracotta clay, earthenware firing and glazes.

Other clays can be bought from our stock but unfortunately due to kiln capacity no extra pieces made outside of the course sessions can be fired in our kilns.

We sell gift vouchers if you would like to give the course as a gift.
