Under the tutor’s guidance, students will concentrate on visualising the facial structure, measurement and proportions of the human face, planning a composition, exploring various skin tones and the handling properties of oil paint.
The consideration of accuracy of observation and measurement will be looked at in relation to freedom of expression, exploration of materials and engagement with an expressive and individual painterly language.
Day 1 10th June;
The day will start with several drawn studies using dry materials such as pencil and charcoal.
Followed by canvas preparation and the creation of an under-painting.
Day 2 17th June;
Using our prepared under-painting from week 1 you will further develop accurate mixing of skin tones and mark making techniques culminating in a final portrait to take home.
Suitable for all abilities, where students will develop at their own pace in a relaxed creative space.
You will discover and practice new techniques on how to correctly observe the portrait and how to transpose this information accurately, with expert guidance from international selling Artist Heather Burwell.
You will be supported in developing your own style and will benefit from Artsheds’ creative atmosphere and a great group of like minded people as well as receiving one-2-one attention from your tutor…
Materials are included, but please feel free to bring along your one bits if you like to.
