This June we are creating some beautiful summer birds.
The process is magic! No glue. No thread. Its mess free and super creative.
No previous experience is required and you don’t have to be a skilled crafter.
Using a series of techniques you will learn how to needle felt a basic bird shape with wings and tail feathers – we shall cover these in soft shades of blue and green Merino and Carded wool to create a blue tit, or adapt the colours and make a wren, the choice is yours.
The whole process will require lots and lots of stabbing with the very sharp felting needle to harden the wool.
Julia will demonstrate how to create the markings on its head, where the eyes should go and how to construct a beak.
You can then add a couple of little metal legs and perch him on a pine cone.
Many of the techniques you pick up can be used to make other projects.
Everything needed to make one bird will be supplied.
You’ll also get to take home your special barbed needle and foam block so you can make more at home.
